WellCare of Kentucky Donates $10,000 to Housing Development Alliance’s "Housing Can’t Wait Fund"
Hazard, KY, June 13, 2022 — WellCare of Kentucky announced it has contributed $10,000 to the Housing Development Alliance’s (HDA) ‘Housing Can’t Wait Fund.’ The donation will help HDA purchase materials needed to build and repair homes in areas ravaged by historic floods in July.
“We are inspired by the strides HDA has made in helping people rebuild, and we are glad to do our part to help the people of southeastern Kentucky move forward with their lives,” said Corey Ewing, WellCare Plan President.
Over 2100 homes have been majorly damaged or destroyed with an additional 10,000 homes in need of at least minor repair. More than 27,000 people are in need of assistance, including many low-income people who could not rebuild without assistance.
“The need is so big, and since there isn’t enough funding available to support our work for flood survivors, we rely on the generosity of donors to make our flood recovery efforts possible,“ said R. Scott McReynolds, HDA Executive Director. “Thanks to WellCare, the Housing Development Alliance will be able to complete more home repairs and build more homes for flood survivors in need. With colder weather settling in, we’re grateful for WellCare’s willingness to partner with us and help us spread the word that housing can’t wait.”
Since July, WellCare has donated over $400,000 to flood relief efforts.
