WellCare of Kentucky Donates $400,000 to Flood Relief Efforts
Louisville-based healthcare company has over 9,000 members in affected area
Louisville, KY, August 21, 2022 — WellCare of Kentucky is contributing $400,000 toward flood recovery efforts in Mayfield/West KY. The healthcare company donated to the Governor’s Team Eastern Kentucky Relief Fund and to several local organizations that are providing direct relief to those affected by the flooding.
“These historic floods have an immediate impact on these communities and recovery will take years,” said WellCare Plan President and CEO Corey Ewing. “We will continue to support efforts to help people rebuild their lives.”
WellCare, a subsidiary of the Centene Corporation, donated $100,000. Additional contributions were provided by other Centene-owned health plans in the region.
WellCare is also supporting the communities and its members by:
- Communicating to more than 25,000 members via text, automated phone messages, and Facebook to advise them that emergency prescriptions are covered if they were lost in the flood
- Waiving prior authorizations for three weeks
- Providing 24-hour Nurse Advice Hotline
- Providing access to 24-hour behavioral and mental health services
- Providing meals to first responders
- Delivering pallets of personal care supplies, which were donated and gathered by WellCare associates
